When the United Church of Christ embarked upon a bold initiative to call attention to the growing rate of illiteracy in the U.S. and around the world the entire campaign was woefully behind schedule in preparations.

 

We were extremely fortunate to discover ADB Strategies just two months before campaign kick off. Angela Barnes took on the project with full force, creating a comprehensive effort to create enthusiasm and participation throughout all aspects of the church. She was able to devise a strategy to communicate with our 5,127 churches, co-create an international fundraising component with global partners in Egypt, encourage thousands of parishioners to volunteer as literacy tutors and even develop a hands-on event for our national General Synod.

 

Through her efforts, historic new connections were made with banks, corporations, neighborhoods and media outlets in Northeast Ohio; organizations that traditionally do not engage with religious institutions. Our goals were realized only through the incredibly hard work of ADB Strategies and Angela Barnes. About Angela Barnes

 

Angela D. Barnes has earned a reputation for keen perception and clear communications in helping non-profits, corporations, and small businesses develop strategic plans to achieve their goals. Her success in providing fundraising analysis, forecasting and execution for non-profit organizations began in the corporate world developing strategy for over 400 successful marketing projects for Nordstrom. She honed her Marketing Project Management skills at Fortune 500 companies including CVS Caremark. Serving as the Special Projects Liaison for Gay Games, Angela was able to transfer her for-profit skills to the nonprofit world, securing $150,000 in in-kind gifts and sponsorship deals.  She marketed and managed the “Reading Changes Lives” literacy campaign for the national office of the United Church of Christ’s General Synod, held in Cleveland. The event resulted in partnerships with fifteen corporate and non-profit organizations and the collection of enough school supply items to fill 2,000 book bags for children within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.  Most recently, she serves as a Development Consultant for Hebrew Free Loan Association (HFLA), creating their first-ever Development Department, directing their annual strategic planning, individual and major gifts, events and corporate giving programs.

 

Angela Barnes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in Business management, both from Ursuline College.

 

She takes pride in her ability to help clients achieve their objectives by bringing together diverse sets of stakeholders to reach lofty goals.
